    • 1). Check maintenance parts, such as refractories and flue pipes, for your fireplace. If the manufacturer no longer replaces those parts because they have been discontinued and universal parts cannot be obtained, you should invest in a new unit.

    • 2). Replace your prefabricated fireplace if the manufacturer is no longer in business, since you may not be able to replace maintenance parts or have your unit serviced if something were to go wrong with it.

    • 3). Replace the unit if the fireplace is rusted or warped inside the fire box. Clean out your unit after burning a fire and perform a regular maintenance annually.
