    Citrus Peels

    • The garbage disposal can sometimes emit the shrimp odor when shrimp leftovers are run through the disposal. In this instance, peel an orange, and run the peels through the disposal. This will eliminate the shrimp odor while leaving the area smelling citrus-fresh.

    Baking Soda

    • For shrimp odor in the refrigerator or freezer, place a dish with a few spoonfuls of baking soda inside the fridge or freezer. For shrimp odor throughout the kitchen, place a few dishes of baking soda around the area; the odor should dissipate within a few hours. In other areas of the home, sprinkle a light dusting of baking soda over carpet and upholstery, let sit for 10 minutes, and then vacuum up the baking soda.

    Vinegar

    • Use distilled white vinegar rather than other varieties, which do not deodorize. In a spray bottle, mix two cups of water with one cup of distilled white vinegar. Spray around the home, wipe down counter tops and tables, and spray over carpeted areas. To create a cleaner safe for most floor types, mix in a bucket one gallon of warm water with one cup of distilled white vinegar. Dip a mop in the bucket, wring out excess water, and mop the floors. The vinegar will absorb and eliminate any shrimp odor in the room.
