    Appearance

    • One odd-looking car is the Citroën 2CV. Manufactured between 1948 and 1990, its appearance has been likened to a duck and to a tin can. Another odd-looking car is the Ford Edsel, which had a large design on the front grille which some people said looked like a toilet seat.

    Mechanics

    • One of the oddest cars, mechanically-speaking, was the original Volkswagen Beetle, produced from 1938 to 2003. The Beetle had an air-cooled rear engine and torsion bar suspension instead of springs. A modern car with odd mechanics is the MiniCat, whose engine runs on compressed air.

    Size

    • Extremely small cars are viewed as odd. The old model Mini Cooper was popularized by the British television show "Mr. Bean." Another tiny car that enjoyed great popularity was the MG Midget, a two-seater. One of the smallest modern cars is the Smart Car, which has a short, squashed appearance.
