Have you ever thought of designing your rug? Are you not satisfied with the patterns and design of carpets that you see in the showrooms or carpet dealers? Then, maybe it's time to design your own carpet or rug.
It might be complicated as it sounds but believe me it is quite easy than you expected. In this design we will be making a polka dot rug. Checkout the tips that I have mentioned below, this would help you in making your own rug quite easy and convenient:
First off, you will need low pile carpet preferably plain without any design on it. Scissor, freezer paper, a plate (depending on the size of the circle that you want to, you could use a dinner plate or small plate), masking tape, pen, spray paint and gloves.
And you're done! The polka dot design is just an example, you can create any design or pattern to your heart's content, and you can even copy some famous carpet designs if you want.

First off, you will need low pile carpet preferably plain without any design on it. Scissor, freezer paper, a plate (depending on the size of the circle that you want to, you could use a dinner plate or small plate), masking tape, pen, spray paint and gloves.
- Spread the rug across the floor, and put the freezer paper above it and then cut the excess paper that on all sides. Then above it, make a circle by using the plate and the pen, you should have at least made 2 or 3 circles.
- After which cut the circles, it should leave a hole that you might be able to see the rug underneath it.
- Then put some freezer paper again until such time that you can cover the whole rug. Use the masking tape to connect the paper to each other. Create same patterns again as you have done with the first step, by the time you are done you would be seeing a lot of circles already. Make sure the paper is thightly fit and can't be lift up because it is very important.
- After that put on your gloves and bring out the spray paint (you can use any color that you think would fit perfectly on your rug). Now select one circle and hold down the edges of the circle sing your hand with glove that way air can't enter underneath your design so it wouldn't push up the design that would ruin your pattern upon using spray paint on it. Repeat the procedure for the rest of the circles until such time that you would finish them all.
- Make sure all the paint have already dried up before taking out the freezer paper above the carpet.
