How to Tie a Flag Halyard
- 1). Feed one end of halyard through the eye of a snap. Move the snap two feet from the end of the halyard and secure it in place with a double overhand knot.
- 2). Feed the other end of the halyard through the eye of a second snap. Move the snap two feet from the end of the halyard and secure it in place with a double overhand knot.
- 3). Attach the snap on one end of the halyard to the grommet in the top corner of the flag. Attach the snap on the other end of the halyard to the grommet in the bottom corner of the flat.
- 4). Form a square knot with the free ends of the halyard. Adjust the length of the halyard between the top and bottom grommets of the flag. The flag should be held securely and not-taut with some slack between the grommets.
- 5). Cut excess rope from the free end of the knot with a knife.
