How to Bond Square Tubing

    • 1). Join a piece of square tubing with a coupling to make sure they fit. If there are burrs or the coupling does not slide on easily, lightly sand down the inside of the coupling or the outside of the square tube with fine sandpaper to make a nice smooth fit.

    • 2). Liberally apply the appropriate primer to the two pieces that will be bonded. Every can of primer and cement will have their own built-in application brush. Both PVC and CPVC need primer for a tight and waterproof fit. ABS tubing does not need primer.

    • 3). Wait approximately 10 seconds after the primer is applied before applying the cement. Again, liberally coat the each side of the tubing to be joined, and once the cement is applied, press the pieces together. The cement will literally melt the plastics together and form a very solid, waterproof and permanent bond.
