It may be a small and humble fruit but thousands of natives and French tourists will head to Conceze in the Limousin in July to celebrate the raspberry.
Investors who have bought a holiday home in the area, be it a chateau or a watermill, will have the opportunity to rent it out to visitors who flock to the tiny village on July 9th to join in the fun.
More than 6,000 people are expected to head to the fair in a bid to taste the succulent fruit, meet the traders and sample the diverse range of products made from la framboise.
Limousin's attractions For those who aren't avid fans of the red berry there is plenty more to enjoy from street entertainment to raffles and tours of the village with its 12th century church.
Hungry stomachs will not have to search far for a bite to eat with plenty of regional delicacies on display including peach melbas, champagne cocktails, veal, duck and snails cooked in raspberry vinegar, sweet liqueurs, tarts, coulis and terrines.
Holiday homes in Limousin A number of English people have chosen to buy holiday homes in the area not just for the ease of renting it out but for the beautiful summers there.
Writing on a French property blog, one such investor said: "We went to the Fete de Framboise last summer.
Fantastic day and had a really good value meal in the bar and restaurant there, went back again with French friends who liked it too.
"We have a holiday home in Segur le Chateau, hopefully permanent at some point in the future.
It's very lively in the summer.
