Your journey to become a mom is very moving. What would you say to moms or would-be moms who may be thinking about giving up the idea of having a child after struggling with fertility issues?
Cecily of Uppercase Woman: This is such an interesting question. My first inclination is to say, "Don't give up! Parenting is such an amazing experience and I'd hate to see you miss out on it!" But as someone who knows people that have made the decision to live without children, I understand the impulse and respect it.

I've watched friends have multiple miscarriages, have to return children they've had to adopt, given birth to children that died not long after birth, and many other tragedies and at some point you have to ask yourself how much your heart can take.

So I guess I have to say that if you are considering giving up the struggle, look deep in your heart, and you'll know the right thing to do. Whether it involves continuing to struggle or giving it up, you will know the right decision to make for you and your family.

You speak so honestly about your past, views and time with family on your blog. What effect do you hope your blog has on other moms?

I'm trying to decide what to say without sounding arrogant! Truth is, while I adore the amazing community of readers my blog has developed (and that includes men, mothers, and many non-mothers), I blog, well, for me.

I am grateful that some mothers find my blog to be helpful as a source of "oh, me too!" identity or encouragement when they struggle, but the point of my blog is to chronicle my life and explore and develop my writing chops while I do it.

I also use my blog as a place to work out the stuff that swirls through my head at any given point, whether it's about potty training, my relationship with my husband, or politics. Truth be told, I think I've learned more from my readers then I could ever dream of teaching them.
