Wood Floor Repair Can Be Done Without Professional Help
Toys that are thrown or dropped make dents in the flooring.
Animals knocking things over can chip the wood.
All is not lost.
You may not need to hire a professional to do your Wood Floor Repair.
You may be able to do it yourself.
All you need is a few tools, supplies, and a little know how.
Before you begin to do your Wood Floor Repair project you will need to find a dealer with the same flooring as you have now.
Sometimes when floor is laid they leave extra boards.
You may want to look for those first.
If you do not have any you will want to get the same color and size boards.
When flooring is laid it either uses long boards or many short boards.
You need to take a look at your flooring and see which length of boards they used.
Purchase the boards and head home.
Now you are ready to start your Wood Floor Repair.
Measure the spot that needs to be replaced.
Measure one of the boards that you purchased and mark the length to match the length of the spot that you need to be replaced.
Carefully cut the board to size.
Take a wooden mallet and chisel and break apart the old board.
It may be easiest to break the board into three parts for a simpler removal.
Now you need to remove all remains of the board.
Take your new board and shape the edges to fit where the old board was.
There will be a groove and you need to make sure that the new board will match the groove.
Fit the board into the spot and use putty filler to fill any spots on the prefinished flooring.
Now you need to wash the floor to make sure that there is no evidence that any repair was made.
Doing the Wood Floor Repair yourself will not only give you a sense of pride and accomplishment but, it will also save you some money.
After you have done one board it will be easy to do any other boards that you may need to do.
