Hand Postion - The "OK" sign.
Make sure you have your hands in the "OK" sign.
That is, your thumb and your forefinger should be touching forming a circle.

Many guys start out in a similar hand positioning as when they masturbate.
This is incorrect and will lead to too much sensation.

Another big mistake is that guys either try to perform their jelqs in a flacid or non-erect state, or else they'll get a full on erection and try to jelq.

Another common mistake is guys just going at it without applying any lubricant or "lube".
Common lubricants like Vaseline are fine to use, but soap and water is not recommended at all as lube.
You can first get into your 50-75% erect state and then apply the lube, or you can apply it as you are getting erect.
Either way lubing up is important in order to avoid redness and irritation from occurring.
