    Suicide Clause

    • Most insurance policies exclude coverage if the policyholder commits suicide within two years after the date of purchasing coverage.

    Aviation

    • The aviation exclusion states there is no coverage is the policy holder dies as a result of a private plane crash. Death from a plane crash involving a commercial flight is covered.

    War Clause

    • Life insurance does not cover death caused as the result of a war.

    Dangerous Activties

    • Several dangerous activities are excluded from life insurance policies, such as hang gliding, auto racing or mountain climbing. In some cases, you can add coverage for these activities by paying a higher premium.

    Policy Holder Rights

    • All states have their own laws and regulations regarding life insurance. In most states, the insurance carrier is required to settle a life insurance claims within 60 days of being provided the proper documentation. A request for medical information by the policy holder is also required to be handled in a timely manner.
