- 1). Navigate to the Visual Studio Express download site at tp://www.microsoft.com/express/download/
- 2). Select your language from the drop-down box for Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. Click the Download button. A small client program called a "web installer" for downloading Visual Basic will be downloaded.
- 3). Run the web installer. Alternatively, you can download a DVD ISO of the full Visual Studio 2008 suite.
- 4). Follow the instructions given in the web installer. You must remain connected to the Internet for the full time that the web installer is running, as it needs to download Visual Basic and its various prerequisites during the installation process.
- 5). Wait for the web installer to finish. This may take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours, depending on your Internet speed and how many of the needed components you might already have. You can perform other functions with your computer while the installer runs, as long as you do not turn off your computer or disconnect from the Internet. Reboot when the install finishes.
- 6). Return to the Visual Studio Express download site and download the MSDN Express Library. This is optional, but these documents are the instructions for using your new Visual Basic program and learning the Visual Basic language.
