How to Group Chat in Geo
- 1). Open Geochat.
- 2). Create a new group by moving your cursor to the left of the screen and clicking the "Create new group" selection.
- 3). Give a name to your group on the field that appears. Write a short description of the group to help you remember what kind of group it is and who's in it.
- 4). Choose a location for the new group. Type in an address or the name of your city in the appropriate fields. You can also set the default location to another city or region, if you or the group mainly works out of that city or region.
- 5). Decide how members of the group will interact with each other. For instance, will members' messages go to all members? Choose the "Hide this group from searches and listings" options if you want your new group to be invisible on the listing of groups that the public can see.
- 6). Add members by going to the "My Groups" menu item in the navigation bar. Click on the "Membership" tab. Click the "Add member" box. Search for a Geochat user's name. When the name appears on the list, click "Invite this person." Add more information to the invitation message if you need to, but make sure it's short. The invitee will see it as a text message.
- 7). Send a message to the entire group by clicking the "Map" icon in the navigation bar. Click an icon on the map, write a message in the message bubble that appears and select the group to send it to in the drop-down menu. Click "Send to all" or "Reply to all" if you're replying to a message.
