Treating Hemorrhoids at Home
There are some things you can do to take care of your hemorrhoids without visiting the doctor.
It's not only expensive seeing a doctor, but when it comes to hemorrhoids it is embarrassing too.
Here are tips for treating hemorrhoids at home.
* No heavy lifting as it is as harmful as straining on the toilet.
* Use at least a two-ply toilet paper that is dye and perfume free.
Regular toilet paper contains chemical irritants.
* Choose a hemorrhoid cream that specifies pain relief.
Although many of the creams state that it will make the hemorrhoid disappear, they are actually for temporary pain relief.
Some creams can irritate the hemorrhoid due to the ingredients, making it worse.
* Take a sitz bath.
Fill the tub with very warm water and soak in the bathtub for at least fifteen - twenty minutes.
Repeat throughout the day for comfort.
The warm water will give you pain relief due to increased blood flow to the area.
* Diet is crucial.
You need to take steps to ensure your stool is soft.
Hard stool can cause straining and bleeding.
Eat plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grain and add flaxseed oil to your daily diet.
Drink a lot of water throughout the day.
* Avoid table salt.
Salt retains fluids in the circulatory system that may cause bulging veins in the anus.
* If you are pregnant, decreased pressure on the main vein drains the lower half of the body.

Dr.
Townsend recommends pregnant women lie on your left side for about twenty minutes every four to six hours as this will decrease the pressure on the main vein.
