The evaluation consists of an examination of the anus performed by the doctor, and a digital rectal exam with a gloved, lubricated finger in order to feel any protuberance that could be present.
If the doctor determines that you actually have hemorrhoids, then he will give you a treatment aimed to relieving symptoms, that could consist of several tub baths in a day, or the application of a cream to the affected area.
Though in some cases the hemorrhoids must be treated surgically.
