Viruses, on the other hand are out ruin your computer first and foremost.

Spyware and adware on the other hand are more interested in your finances and it is this kind of malware that is responsible for identity theft.

For instance, a rootkit will make it possible for a worm to enter into your root files.
This worm will duplicate itself many times.
Left unchecked, it will ruin the computer altogether.
What Spyware Leaves Behind The fact antispyware and antivirus programs are both not needed on the same computer would lead you to believe you only need one kind of protection software to keep your computer running fast and error free.
Well, really this is not entirely true.
Malware, once it is removed leaves residue in the way of registry corruption.
In fact, when any software is removed from or altered on your computer, registry corruption is left behind.
This means every computer should have a registry cleaner installed on it because when left alone, registry corruption will make your computer act a lot like some viruses and spyware make a computer act.
This means the computer will lose speed and may crash frequently.
A good registry scanner should be run once a month or so and after any malware has been removed.
