How to Eat Right and Be Healthy As You Age
Most people understand that we must eat right to remain healthy.
This is particularly true as we age.
It is not possible to stay healthy without proper nutrition.
Proper nutrition is essential to fuel our bodies.
And, just as your car needs the proper fuel, so too do you need the proper nutrients to fuel your own good health.
Obviously, too much food is not a good thing, as it causes us to gain weight when too much is consumed.
When we are considering which foods to eat, we must take into account which foods are good for our health, and which are not.
Foods like fruits and vegetables, meats and dairy, fish, legumes are all natural foods that are low in carbohydrates and loaded with vitamins, minerals and proteins.
While too much of any food can lead to health issues, a healthy balance can and should be maintained to eat right and be healthy as you age.
As we age and our metabolism slows, it is much easier to gain weight if we are not careful.
But, a well-balanced diet mixed with moderate to light exercise, is enough for most people to maintain a healthy weight.
It has been shown in many research and clinical trials, that if we eat properly and exercise regularly, that we can in fact maintain a healthy weight.
It is definitely possible to eat right and be healthy as we age.
If you are like me, you have known people who have lived long and healthy lives and maintained the proper weight all of their lives.
It is not a coincidence that these people live long and remain in great health.
They watch their weight and most of them exercise regularly - by walking or riding bikes and other forms of light exercise.
The most healthy people develop healthy eating habits that stay with them throughout their lives.
They eat meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, fish, breads, pastas and the like, and limit their sugar intake.
If they do consume sugar, it will often be in the form of organic sugars and honey.
It is also true, that most all people who want to eat right and be healthy as they age, will often take all natural vitamins, herbs and mineral supplements.
The most healthy among them know to stay away from synthesized and man- made vitamins in particular.
The healthy aging people I talk to usually take all natural herbs, vitamins, and some form of mineral supplements.
To eat right and be healthy as you age is as much as anything a learned, conditioned, and disciplined endeavor.
It takes a commitment on our parts to be healthy as we age.
So the reality is, eating right, exercising, and watching your weight, are the best gifts you can give yourself now.
And, as you age and remain in good health, you will be glad you made a decision to be healthy for your entire life.
