Kittens are adorable pets that can really make your life exciting.
However, when the kitten is brought into your home, you need to train your pet in the initial stages itself to follow a few routines.
One of the first training given to a kitten is to litter only in the designated point.
You need to make your pet understand that he cannot litter just anywhere in the house.
Your kitten has to use the litter box at any point of the day.
Even if he is playing outdoors, he should be trained to litter in the designated place to relieve himself.
Generally, kittens remain with their mother for the first 8 - 12 weeks after their birth.
Some of them instinctively use the litter box just by following their mother provided the mother kitten is in your home itself.
Otherwise, if he is newly entering home or he has been raised elsewhere, you need to ensure that you begin training as soon as he is over 4 weeks old.
Your kitten should be trained to go the litter box after every meal and nap.
If your kittens tries dig up the floor or searches for a corner, place your pet gently in the litter box.
You can buy a container from a nearby store or train initially in a plastic container, cardboard box or a large pan that would comfortably fit in your pet.
You can also place rubber mats around the box in order to catch any debris that may have got stuck to the paws when the cat used the litter box.
