Smart Move
Sure you save money, but is it worth the added stress? I think not.
However, I realise sometimes life doesn't give us a choice in the matter- but there are ways around limitation.
Here are some suggestions for saving time, money, and effort in order to make a smart move.
A few months before you have to move house, prepare yourself mentally (and physically if you need extra strength!).
Moving is a big change, and it also requires a lot of preparation ahead of time.
Get rid of everything that you don't need or stuff that you haven't used in the last 6 months-year (chances are you won't use it anyway).
Give things away, you'll feel better for it.
Sell items if you need to make extra coin for the move.
Prepare your finances and ensure that you have your moving budget in line.
Make all the necessary phone calls such as changing your address on bills and other important documentation.
If you happen to receive Child Tax, make sure you call Canada Revenue and give them your new address.
If you don't, they will stop payment.
Take some time and brainstorm what needs to be addressed and then make the appropriate changes.
A few weeks before the move, I suggest that you start putting all the items that you won't need for the next few weeks and pack them away in boxes.
I also recommend using GoGoBoxes for packing your belongings a few days before the move.
These durable plastic boxes can fit a lot more in them than cardboard boxes, simply because they are so strong.
They are also easily stackable, making your move to the truck so much easier with a provided dolly.
Never be afraid to ask for help from friends or colleagues when it comes to moving.
Give your helpers food and beverages, and be sure to thank them for all their hard work.
I'm sure it won't be hard to return the favour when they need help.
Moving is tough, so you'll need all the help you can get.
Once all your boxes are safely in the truck, it's time to get your move on! Be sure to take care of yourself during this transition.
Relax, meditate if you want to, breathe, and remember that it's just another step along the path that will lead you to more exciting adventures in life.
Embrace the change, and you'll find it will go a lot smoother than you thought!
