- 1). Watch for signs of high fevers in children or adults. Such fevers are typically over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit. In most cases, such a fever will present within 2 to 7 days after infection occurs.
- 2). Pay attention to any complaints of headaches or body aches. At this time, symptoms of SARS may mimic cold and flu viruses, so it is especially important to be aware of additional complaints or symptoms.
- 3). Observe the individual or yourself, for signs of difficulty breathing, even if it is mild. These sensations may be a feeling that you just can't get enough air or take a deep enough breath.
- 4). Watch for coughing that may present within 2 to 7 days after onset of infection. The cough usually associated with SARS is dry.
- 5). Be alert for any signs of increased difficulty breathing. Don't wait to see how the illness progresses, but seek the help of a medical professional right away.
