How to Kill Flea Beetles
- 1). Apply an insecticide to the garden that contains pyrethroids or carbamates. Follow the instructions on the insecticide to ensure that you apply it properly.
- 2). Apply diatomaceous earth around the plants and dust the leaves with it. The diatomaceous earth will cut the flea beetles and dehydrate them.
- 3). Attract purple finches to the garden by hanging a bird feeder or supplying a water source for the birds. Purple finches will feast on the flea beetles and eliminate them from the garden.
- 4). Remove weeds and debris from the garden to prevent giving the flea beetles a place to seek refuge. Removing the debris will cause them to find a new location to feast.
- 5). Apply a thick layer of organic mulch around the plants. The mulch will prevent the larva from coming out of the ground the following year.
