Riding an ATV or UTV in New York can be somewhat of a challenge compared to riding in the western US, where there is plenty of open space as well as public land to ride on.  Fortunately for those riders on the East Coast, there are plenty of privately owned parks and ranches that allow OHV riding and offer some great trails and camping areas, as well.  Here are just some of the options we have when it comes to finding a fun way to spend a weekend in New York.

1. ADIRONDACKS TUG HILL REGION

Located in Lewis County in New York, the Adirondacks Tug Hill Region (also known as the Lewis County ATV Trail System) is host to hundreds of miles of ATV trail systems - both on public lands as well as on private land.

The trails in this sytem consist of town and county roads that offer access to many off-road trails throughout the region.  The off-road trails consist of county reforestation and private land-owner's property.

OHV riders are required to purchase an ATV Trail Permit in order to ride here legally.  Permits can be purchased per season, or for shorter durations as well.

There are maps available and updated on a yearly basis that will help riders to navigate this immense area.

Due to the rough winters in New York, this area is open from May 1st through Columbus Day in October, when it will close for the winter.
