How to Reinstall Norton Antivirus 2008
- 1). Press the Windows logo and "R" keys on the keyboard simultaneously. The "Run" dialog box appears. Type "appwiz.cpl" without quotation marks in the box and press "Enter" to display a list of installed programs.
If you have already removed Norton Antivirus 2008 or are reinstalling it on a new computer, skip to Step 5. - 2). Click "Norton Antivirus" then click the "Remove" button if you are running Windows XP. In Windows Vista and 7, click "Norton Antivirus" then click the "Uninstall" button. A new window appears.
- 3). Click the "Remove All" button. The window confirms that you are about to remove Norton Antivirus from your computer. Click "Next."
- 4). Click the radio button labeled "Restart Windows Now" when the process is complete, then click the "Finish" button. Allow Windows to restart completely before continuing to the next step.
- 5). Insert the Norton Antivirus 2008 installation disc after the Windows desktop loads. The installation program launches automatically.
- 6). Click "Install Norton Antivirus."
- 7). Click the "Yes" button if you have an active Internet connection to download the most recent updates for Norton Antivirus before the installation procedure begins.
- 8). Enter your product key for Norton Antivirus 2008. The product key is a 25-character code printed on a sticker on the CD package or on a paper insert if you purchased Norton Antivirus 2008 on CD, or on the DVD keepcase if you purchased it on DVD. Click the "I Agree" button, then click "Next." The most recent virus definitions are downloaded, and the computer is given a preliminary scan for viruses. After the scan is complete, the files required for Norton Antivirus 2008 to run are copied to the hard drive.
- 9). Follow the prompts to activate your Norton Antivirus 2008 subscription, or click "Activate Later" then "No" to begin using Norton Antivirus 2008 now. When the installation is complete, a yellow "Norton" icon appears in the lower-right corner of the screen.
