Social Media Release v/s Traditional Press Releases
In the recent times many things are happening in the marketing field, one thing out of all these which attracts me the most is the evolution of "Social Media Releases". Social media news release enables two way communication through the comments of the readers which can be monitored by the issuing company. The social media news releases are broken in a short size chunks so that anyone can repost it on different sites, rather than writing in a news story format which in general is not read by the consumers.
In social media releases major points which you want to communicate can be written in a different chunks so that reposted points creates maximum impact. Here I am not saying that social media releases are going to cannibalize traditional news releases, their is still a need of telling a news in a story format because short chunks of news can be confusing for a reader.
The social media release is a new phenomenon and it is not clear how this is going to change readers' habit but it looks very promising looking at the rate at which different social media sites are attracting new users. Many companies have started working on it like Marketwire, Prwebwire, CheckBuzz. As we are moving ahead with web 3.0 and everything has to be personalized so it is becoming important that we use social media releases along with the traditional media releases to make the maximum impact.
