    • 1). Cut the old lampshade away from its frame. Clean off any remaining tape and fabric with soap and water.

    • 2). Measure the height and circumference of the frame. Cut the card stock or poster board to exactly the measurement of the height by the circumference plus 1 inch. For example, if your frame is 20 inches high and has a circumference of 26 inches, you would cut the card-stock or poster-board to 20 inches by 27 inches.

    • 3). Cut the fabric to the same width as the card-stock or poster board by the height plus half of an inch. The example fabric would be cut to 20.5 inches by 27 inches.

    • 4). Spray the card stock or poster board and the back of the fabric with fabric adhesive. After a few seconds, place the sticky side of the fabric onto the card stock or poster board so that the widths are even and the fabric extends beyond the stock by about a quarter of an inch at the top and bottom.

    • 5). Wrap the reinforced fabric around the frame. About an inch will overlap. Spray the back of it with fabric adhesive and press it down onto the wrapped-around fabric.

    • 6). Spray the back of the extra fabric at the top and bottom of the shade with fabric adhesive. Roll down to cover the circular wires at the top and bottom of the frame.
