    • 1). Apply bathroom cleaner to a sponge and wipe it around in the bathtub cracks. Dry the cracked area with a towel, then blow a hair dryer over the crack to make sure it is totally dry.

    • 2). Drill small holes of less than 1/4 inch at both ends of the crack. The holes are intended to keep the crack from spreading later. Fill the holes with insulating foam. Allow the foam to expand and harden, according to the label directions.

    • 3). Smooth any rough areas on the edges of the crack with a file, sandpaper or a tungsten-carbide cutter, depending on the size of the crack. For bigger jobs, use a tungsten carbide cutter. Hold it at an angle to create a V-shaped channel along the entire crack.

    • 4). Brush up any pieces of porcelain that came loose when you sanded the crack.

    • 5). Squeeze or squirt epoxy resin from a tube into the crack. Allow the epoxy to dry for 24 hours.

    • 6). Sand over the epoxy with 240-grit wet/dry sandpaper. Sand the area again with soaked 400-grit wet/dry sandpaper until the epoxy is even with the tub surface.

    • 7). Brush or spray porcelain paint on the surface of your tub with long, smooth passes. Allow the paint to dry for the time recommended on its label. Apply another coat of paint over the area that was cracked.

    • 8). Allow the second coat of paint to dry. Leave the tub unused for at least two days.
