The Role of Parents As Educators

The first teachers your child is introduced to, is YOU as a parent. As a parent you are your child's first educators and knowledge of what to teach and not to teach are important skills. Certainly by the time a child is ready to go to Pre- school and then primary school, school teachers are instrumental in educating your child and nurturing his personality development with the help of personal development books, however this is on an academic level.

It is vital that parents know about the behavioural management of children. Understanding the nature and purpose of children' s problematic behaviour and knowing how to respond constructively to them, will assist parents to help their child to have a good foundation and assist in the child's emotional maturity. This in itself will prepare the child for some of the challenges that children encounter and this is very important, because there is mounting evidence that children who are troubled and exhibit learning difficulties within a classroom, usually have problems with self-esteem issues, which can be most of the time, traced back to their home life.
For parents to prepare their children for the challenges of school they need to focus on a number of areas including:

*The way love is shown to children
*How family conflicts can be resolved
*How parents feel about themselves
*The mirroring of the self worth of each child
*Helping the child who is trouble

In times of trouble and unrest many parents are left with asking themselves 'where do parents go to get guidance?' Their family and friends may be supportive, however, they are usually struggling with their own problems day to day activities. Parents can obtain a lot of advice from many different resources but sometimes there is such a bombardment of advice, some good and some not so good that parents can get lost as they search for answers to questions they have regarding the development of their children as they transcend from babies to adolescence.

Lifestyle Plus Centre understand that one of the most difficult jobs in the world is that of being a parent. As humans most have the natural ability to nurture, however, to be a good competent parent is not a 'natural ability' but a complex and multifaceted one for which many have little or no training.

Understanding this, we have written and will continue to write informative articles on topics which we know can help parents through some of the challenging times, we offer resources which we have developed to target specific behavioural problems that children go through as they develop and we invite you to go to http://www.lifestylepluscentre.com and download your FREE E book 'Effective Positive Parenting' This E Book contains a treasure trove of information relating to:
