Affiliate marketing is a competitive business, which is why many find it difficult to make it big. Having your application to an affiliate network rejected is one of the discouraging experiences that's quite common to people starting out in this business. The fact is, these networks don't accept applications that seem to come from new affiliate marketers, which is why you need to know how to go about it the right way before applying.

Smaller Networks are Easier to Get Into: If you've never joined an affiliate network before, it makes sense to begin by applying to some small ones first. Larger and well known networks usually stick with affiliates who can show they have experience, as they get many applicants every day. A network that doesn't get very many applicants, however, is going to be much more willing to work with a new affiliate. There's no reason why you can't apply to a wide range of networks, large and small. But when you get started with the smaller ones, it will give you the confidence to start off your business and later apply to the other high quality networks. What you really want is to begin promoting offers, without spending too much time on the application process. There are many affiliates that tend to get discouraged and end up wasting time with networks they can come back to later. Be Persistent: If you want to be successful as an affiliate marketer, you can't give up too easily. You will probably not get accepted by every affiliate network that you apply to. This is just the reality of the situation. This is just one aspect of affiliate marketing! If you don't lose your determination and keep trying, you'll eventually move forward. You should expect to face a certain number of rejections, as most people do. Use every failure as a learning experience; if you know why one network rejected you, do things differently next time. Over time, you'll get accepted into more networks, which means more opportunities to promote offers. So keep pushing and grow your reach as you move ahead.

If One Network Rejects You Try Another: Having your application rejected by a network is only a temporary setback, and not a big deal. If you keep applying to different networks, and there are lots of them, it's practically assured that one or more will approve you.

Remember that it's not necessary to belong to a large number of networks to be successful as an affiliate. In fact, you can make a great start by promoting offers for even one good network; you can always join more later on. You'll also find that acceptance into one network will improve your standing when you apply to others in the future. Getting accepted by one network is all you need to get your foot in the door, as you eventually be able to join as many as you want. You should start off with the attitude that you're going to continue applying to networks until you're approved by at least one. The more seriously you approach affiliate marketing, and the more time you take to learn the business thoroughly, the more success you'll have in every aspect of it.
