How Do I Get Cat Urine Out of Fabric?
- 1). Soak up the urine using paper towels. As soon as you notice the presence of the stain, press the paper towels firmly against the fabric to absorb the liquid. Do not use a scrubbing motion, because this will only spread the urine. Continue to press paper towels against the stain until you get the fabric as dry as possible.
- 2). Mix 1 part distilled white vinegar with 2 parts warm water in an empty spray bottle. Shake the bottle vigorously to mix the liquids, creating a diluted vinegar solution that effectively combats both the stain and the associated odor.
- 3). Spray the solution over the urine-affected area on the fabric. Cover the entire area with the liquid solution, and scrub with a sponge or paper towels. Scrub in a firm, circular motion to loosen the urine residue.
- 4). Rinse the fabric with warm water to remove the distilled vinegar. Place the fabric in a washing machine, and add 1 to 2 cups of apple cider vinegar to combat the remaining odor. Wash the fabric using your normal wash settings. You may also apply a pet deodorizer to the fabric after the completion of the wash, if any traces of odor still remain.
