Should You Take Your Cat To Work?

Do you work at a progressive, contemporary company? If so, you may be able to bring your pet to work.
Typically, policies which permit pets in the work place limit the animals weight or size, so be sure to check with your human resources department first to avoid any unpleasantness.
Before you try bringing your cat to work, I recommend that you first ask around and talk with other pet owners whom you know have participated in the program.
Find out how well their cat handled the stress of riding in the car and being introduced to the new environment.
Of course, your pet may not react the same exact way, but what you learn may help you plan your next moves.
I also suggest that you ask about what gear is appropriate to bring.
Do you have to supply food and bowls, or is that provided at the office? Is there a litter cabinet somewhere away from the desks that the cats can all use? How do you think your cat will respond to a new environment rich with the scent of other animals? There's likely to be a bit of excitement at first.
Be sure to bring along a couple of cat beds to help ease the transition.
Cat beds will give your pet something familiar to associate with and provide a measure of comfort and security as well.
Place the cat beds in a seldom-used corner of your desk or office.
If you can find a way to partially seclude them, that's great.
As you know, cats like privacy and feel safest when they're closed in.
When choosing the cat beds you'll take, look for some with reversible and/or removable cushions and walled sides.
That way you can stay on top of cleaning and surround your kitty comfortably.
