Tips for selecting the best fabric material for your child’s bedding and clothing.
Quality of the material:
Fibre quality is important as the cloth is very likely to get wet and must survive frequent washings. The best choice of clothing material for small babies is pure cotton. Pure cotton sheets are very absorbent and soft which is ideal for children. It is easy to be cleaned and doesn't fade on washings.
For children who have started to walk it is better to use a more durable type of clothing material. A combination of polyester and cotton is ideal. Since babies at these ages are very energetic soft materials may get damaged easily. Polyester integrated cotton fabrics are more durable than 100% pure cotton material. Though polyester is not as smooth as cotton the children's skin will grow less sensitive so they will be comfortable in it.
Color:
Color is something you should consider while buying sheets for your baby. Kids love colors there is no doubt about that. For small babies the most preferred color for clothing and bedding is white because you can spot even small stains on them and easily find out if it is dirty or not (hygiene is more important than looks.)
For older kids make their clothes and beddings colorful. Children love colors. Prefer light, bright colors to heavy shades.
Coatings:
Commercial clothes are exposed to various chemical treatments to improve finish and durability. However for small children these sheets are not ideal. So when purchasing sheets for your baby look for those labeled purified tissue. It either means that they are not chemically treated or all the chemicals are removed. Ofcourse they may wrinkle easily but your child's health is more important than the looks of his clothing.
Patterns:
Do children like sheets with plane colors or those with different patterns and colors? Obviously they prefer the latter one. For little girls the ideal color is pink with lots of flowers and leaves. For small boys light blue would be a good color with pics of cartoon characters.
