How to Install a Dump Bed on a Golf Cart

    • 1). Measure the dimensions on the back of your golf cart behind the driver and passenger seats. For example, the space behind the front seats has a dimension of 3-by-5-feet.

    • 2). Make the front and back base of the dump bed. Cut two 2-by-8 wood planks to 3-foot-lengths. Make the side bases of the dump bed. Cut two 2-by-8 wood planks 44-inch-lengths. Use any kind of saw that makes a true cut.

    • 3). Make the floor of the dump bed. Cut a 1-inch plywood sheet to a 3-by-5-foot dimension.

    • 4). Make the front and back walls of the dump bed. Cut two 2-by-8 wood planks to 3-foot-lengths. Make the side walls of the dump bed. Cut two 2-by-8 wood planks 56-inch-lengths.

    • 5). Remove the racks located on the back of the golf cart. Remove the screw or bolts by rotating the screws or bolts in a clockwise direction, using a screwdriver or adjustable wrench. Store the racks in a safe place for future use.

    • 6). Remove the rear wheels from the golf cart. Position the back base horizontally on top of the bumper. Drill four quarter-inch pilot holes through the back base into the bumper. Insert four quarter-inch wood screws into the holes and screw them into the bumper. Position the front base horizontally behind the front seats. Drill four quarter-inch pilot holes through the front base into the cart body. Insert and tighten four quarter-inch wood screws into the holes. Position the side bases horizontally between the front and back bases. Drill four quarter-inch pilot holes through the side bases into the cart body. Insert and tighten four quarter-inch wood screws into the holes. The exterior edges of the base pieces make a 3-by-5-foot rectangle.

    • 7). Position the front, back and side walls vertically on a level surface to make a 3-by-5-foot rectangle. Place the floor over the top edges of the walls. Drill six wood screws per wall through the floor and into the ends of the walls. Screw the corners of the walls together, using three wood screws per corner.

    • 8). Invert the wood structure. Place the floor and the walls over the base of the dump bed. Drill six wood screws into the floor to the base. Position the screws half-inch inside the walls.

    • 9). Reinstall the rear wheels. Seal the edges of the structure with silicone caulk to prevent moisture damage.
