How to Get Rid of Mole Rats
- 1). Locate active mole rat tunnels. The easiest way to do this is stomp down any mounds in your garden.
- 2). Check the flattened mounds the next day. If they are raised again, the moles are working in the tunnels below this dirt.
- 3). Push several mothballs through the mounds. Start at the beginning of one of the tunnel mounds and insert three or four mothballs through the dirt until they fall into the tunnel.
- 4). Continue placing mothballs at intervals of one foot along the active tunnel.
- 5). Add mothballs to the tunnels daily, reinserting any that the moles push back out. Repeat this for at least a week, then start checking whether the moles have evacuated.
- 6). Pour castor oil into the tunnels if the moles remained after the mothball treatment.
- 7). Add the castor oil in the same increments as the mothballs everyday for a week or until the moles leave.
