2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin

Take an Explorer Sport Trac, give it a lower and sleeker appearance, jazz up some of its body trim elements, and you have the basics behind the 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin.

Ford's newest sport utility truck was inspired by the Sport Trac Adrenalin concept introduced at the New York Auto Show in 2005. Designers had to make some functional changes to get the truck into production, but left most of its overall appearance intact.

Front and rear fascias are 3.5 inches lower than they are on the standard Explorer, making the truck appear to sit lower than it actually does. Integrated running boards with rubber step pads stream down the sides of the Adrenalin.

The Adrenalin's front and rear fenders have lost the Explorer's wheel lip moldings. Functional front fender vents and the absence of roof racks both help set Adrenalin apart from the standard Sport Trac.

Sport Trac Adrenalin is available with an all-wheel-drive system.

Other Adrenalin appearance tweaks:
  • 10-spoke, polished aluminum wheels; P255/50R20 Pirelli tires
  • circular fog lamps reminiscent of the new Mustang
  • gloss black, larger grille with crosshatch pattern and Ford oval badging
  • rear cutout for dual-tipped exhaust, finished with body-colored mirror caps
  • new tailgate with Adrenalin badging
  • charcoal black interior with gray headliner; choose cloth or leather-trimmed seats
  • floor mats with Adrenalin logo
