How Did You Spend Your Final Day of Capitalism?

The day before the 2008 presidential election, I sat in a coffee shop with a number of retired business people and I asked them; are you enjoying your last day of capitalism? Some of them laughed and some of them sighed, but all of them knew what I was talking about.
After all, Senator Barack Obama was expected to win the presidential election the next day.
Senator Barack Obama spoke against NAFTA and against Wall Street corporate corruption and greed.
He has also promised increase regulations on businesses, as well as a mandatory increase in minimum wage of at least $10 per hour; calling this a living wage.
Indeed, he also called for spreading the wealth a little, which if you know anything about socialism those are practically code phrases.
When the government threatens to tax you and take your money and then give it to someone else who does not work as hard, has not been as successful or does not care to work at all, this sends mixed signals to the overachievers in our society and the entrepreneurs that bring us everything that we see everywhere we go.
Indeed, everything that we buy, sell or trade was produced and/or brought to us by an entrepreneur.
If we have a success tax on these sorts of people it is a foregone conclusion that they will not work as hard in the future.
You can call this the Ayn Rand effect, because that is exactly what it is.
In fact, Ayn Rand actually predicted this.
Although President Barack Obama is very good at giving speeches and giving people hope, he did not level with the American people, and now he is expected to make good on the promises that he gave in those many speeches that helped him get elected.
The fact is he'll have to renege on most, if not all of his promises, which will decrease his future credibility and make him ineffectual as a leader.
For those that voted for Barack Obama, I congratulate you on your victory, but I also do warn you to be careful what you wish for.
Our nation has become the greatest nation ever created in the history of mankind thanks to capitalism, other nations founded upon socialism have not done as well, or they have collapsed completely in the past.
France, which is a socialist nation, has an unemployment rate of 17% and their deficit spending could very well bring down the EU.
It is rather amazing that the US citizens do not understand this and instead voted for a dream and the hope that was promised by Barack Obama, promises that he cannot deliver, that no one can deliver in this current economic climate.
Indeed, promises no one should attempt delivering at any time.
Why you ask? Because those dreams of utopia do not exist and even if they did; if you're going to build utopia you need entrepreneurial capitalists, as they are the only ones who can build anything.
These superstar individuals of mankind must be rewarded for their efforts and they are entitled to everything that they earn, unlike those that do not work who feel entitled to everything that they do not earn.
Well, I certainly hope you'll consider the philosophy behind these comments, rather than the continual denial that has brought us where we are today.
Think on it.
