What Would God Have Me Do? Dealing With Outdated Thinking
I would like to give you a situation, with a possible outcome, if you ever run into a situation like this.
You're at the mall shopping when you see two men holding hands walking down the center of the mall.
It looks odd, so you look once more and this time, you notice that their having a gay time, as they walk, laughing at those who are starring at them.
What would God have me do in a situation like this? First off, there's two different gods, there is the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament and somewhere in between and there's the Holy Spirit but that's when it starts to get a little nutty.
I'll explain that in another article, let's get back and start to focus seriously on our question.
Let's start with the God of the Old Testament.
They haven't broken any laws yet, you would have to spy on them and actually find them lying together, in the same situation that a man would lie with a woman, preferably his wife.
Otherwise they would be breaking another Leviticus law and this would be good.
After a few days of spying, you witness these two men lying together.
Now you have the proof and according to the Old Testament laws, something bad is going to need to be done, but the Bible doesn't specify who responsibility it is to perform the necessary task.
The God of the New Testament, seems to be a little more loving and forgiving God who understands people.
Jesus is a more compassionate God than Jehovah of the Old Testament.
The Bible says to love your neighbor and if these people are your neighbors, you should be compassionate and loving towards them.
I know this is hard to believe, Christianity is about living a life, using Jesus as an example.
Jesus was a man who prevented an adulterous woman's death, healed lepers, made blind people see and fed hundreds of people.
That sounds like a god that cares about is people.
That's going to be our God of choice, whenever we need to deal with a situation that would require a loving God.
Different circumstances could require a different God.
So to answer your question, God would want you to treat these people as you would like to be treated.
Treat them with compassion and don't alienate them from your church.
It doesn't get any simpler than that, God says it, you know what, now do it and maybe, just maybe if you're really, really good, you will receive an entrance coupon, into the kingdom of God.
