Virginia State Bowie Knife Laws
- Virginia codes make it illegal to sell or give Bowie knives away without a license. Any person who has a weapon on them with the intent to sell it or give it away may be charged with a Class 4 misdemeanor.
- A person may legally purchase a Bowie knife in Virginia from an authorized dealer. They may keep the knife at home legally. They may also carry the knife legally as long as it is not concealed. A business owner may also have a Bowie knife at their business.
- If the knife is being transported for hunting or repair, it must be in plain sight. It must also be sheathed to avoid accidents. Concealing a Bowie knife can result in the carrier obtaining a Class 5 misdemeanor charge.
