The Best Place to Put Hoop Rings on the Ear for a Guy
- A simple hoop in either ear, or both is completely acceptable. The hoop may vary in size from barely passing over the lobe, to an inch in diameter. For those wanting to make a statement, hoops three or four inches in diameter can be worn as well.
- Start with a smaller loop, closer to the edge of the ear, and surround it by a larger hoop, with a piercing further up the lobe. As with the single hoop, this can be done on either or both ears.
- Directly through the cartilage on the top, also referred to as the "helix" of the ear, you can either place a hoop that will fit snugly against the ear, or have a larger hoop that hangs to the back of the ear. This may also be done on either ear, or both if wanted.
- Starting at the lobe, pierce four or five holes leading up the back of the ear's cartilage, also called the "antihelix." Some may like to include descending-sized hoops from the lobe and up, or choose to have the same sized hoop for all the piercings. Again, you may do this on either ear, or choose to do so on both ears.
- The region of the ear that is above the lobe, directly covering the ear canal, is called the "tragus." Placing a hoop through this area is common practice for men. Do this on either ear, or both, depending on your personal preference.
