How is it possible for a single video to appear several times on Google's Page 1? Isn't that Spam?"

No. It's a absolutely legal action of search engines that permit multiple listings of the same video

Just making a video and submitting it to YouTube will not get you listed on the search engines. It's the multiple submissions to several video websites, that get your video picked up by the search engines. Here's how.

As I observed in Pt 1, there are dozens, if not hundreds of video sharing web sites springing up all over the Internet. MegaVideo, Photobucket, Revver, just to list a few. Some specialize in specific categories of videos, others, like YouTube, permit any type of video to be submitted. Be sure to read the Terms of Service of the individual sites. Many sites will decline videos that are nothing more than a promotional ad for a commercial enterprise or service. Some sites will not allow auto submit software.

One advantage videos have over a web site, is that you only have 3 things to optimize: the Title, the Description, and the Tags, or Keywords. Search engines can't index the actual video.

By introducing a properly optimized video to 20-30 sites, you get the attention of the search engines. Because of the huge popularity of videos, they are ranked higher and quicker by the search engines. Whereas an optimized website could take weeks, or even months to be indexed by Google, videos can be indexed within HOURS..(I have had some videos appear on Google's Page 1 in LESS than an hour!)

Notice that I said 'Properly optimized'. The successful listing of a video is based on the Title, Description, and Keywords that you give it, just like a website; proper understanding of those conditions, along with good keyword research is still critical. But, unlike a website, those are the ONLY details that you need to be concerned about. Google reads a video as a 'video'. Since there is no 'text' to index, the content is moot.

Obviously, it takes time to submit a video: because of the graphic nature, it takes longer that a text document. That's where video submission software is becoming popular. Just enter the video file and set up the Title, Description, and Keywords. Designate what video sites the file is to be submitted to, and click Start.

Once you submit a video to, say, 20 sites, each site is considered a separate entity.. That is how the same video can end up being listed several times on Page 1 of Google. For example, once from Revver, once from DailyMotion, once from LiveVideo, etc. Think of the effect that would have on searchers landing on that page. I have numerous Google Page 1 listings that have 4,6,even all 10 of the organic listings.....my videos.

Video submission software now comes in different forms. I'll talk about my experiences with some of those in my next article
