The RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) Certificate is a requirement in most States of Australia before you can serve alcohol in a bar, hotel, club, or on a vehicle (such as an aeroplane).

Previously face-to-face training was the only way to obtain an RSA Certificate. However in recent times, with the advent of online learning, otherwise known as e-elearning, the convenience and economy of computer based training has replaced a lot of face-to-face offerings.
Considerations When Choosing an RSA Certificate Training Provider
First be sure your provider is a credentialed Registered Training Provider (RTO). This is important to ensure your certificate is valid. You can use the National Training Information service (NTIS) to determine this.
Second, ensure that the RTO you choose provides the right type of training you desire. Not all RTO's offer both face-to-face and online modalities. Both modalities can have advantages depending on your needs, but most people find online training the most convenient. The time to complete online courses is typically in the range of only two to three hours, depending on the level of computer skills and existing competence with the content.
Face-to-face training usually requires essentially a full day attending the training, plus of course, you need to build in travel time, parking and food costs etc. However, if you are not confident using a computer, or you have a learning difficulty, face-to-face may be the better option to consider.
