Developing your own product and then promoting an affiliate product on the backend is one of the smartest ways to make money online.

Affiliate marketing with this method will allow you to make two streams of income - the first from your own product and the second from the affiliate promotion. In order to make the money you're looking to make with this method, you need to find a quality affiliate product to promote.

Here are six ways you can tell if you've found the right affiliate product for your promotions.

1.Does the product have generally good reviews online?

When it comes to some niches, like Internet marketing, you'll find a whole bevy of fake reviews out there for products. You have to scratch beneath the surface to find the true reviews out there.

Look in niche forums and figure out if the product you are about to promote is being blacklisted. If it is, don't risk your affiliate marketing reputation on a bad product. Find something that has better reviewed.

2.Does the product creator have a good reputation online?

This may not apply to all products, but this is especially important if you are targeting the make money online field or other popular field where there are well known experts.

If the product's creator has a bad reputation, it won't matter how appealing the program or new product seems to be.

3.Does it enhance or cooperate with the advice that you present in your main product?

There's nothing worse that offering advice in your main product and then promoting a product that completely counteracts that advice. You need to be sure that your affiliate marketing product will enhance or cooperate with your existing product.

For example, if you find a joint venture product that is a natural "second step" the process in your first product, it's a good choice for your backend sale.

4.Does the product offer recurring commissions?

It's always best to find a product that will pay you month after month versus one that pays out only once. Looking for monthly services, membership sites and multiple payment affiliate products is a smart way to go.

You'll earn more money from sales from the same exact amount of work.

5.Is there a need for a product?

This seems like a no brainer but a lot of product creators put their products out there without really determining if there is a need for the product. The affiliate product in question has to be useful and wanted by your market, or you'll look like a fool for a promoting it.

Before you grab your affiliate link, ask yourself if your market has a real need for the product.

6.Is there a lot of competition for the product?

If you have a lot of competition for an affiliate product, that's a good thing...but it means you'll need a separate strategy in order to make an impact with your market. You'll need to offer a bonus in order to get people to purchase through your link.
