Learn Spanish Lesson Online Studying Vocabulary Words
A few days ago, I was surfing the Net and visiting some of the forums where people who are learning Spanish like to gather.
That's when I found a couple of questions about Spanish vocabulary words that people had posted and that no one had answered.
So in this lesson, I will answer those same Spanish vocabulary questions.
The 2 questions are: How do you say the 5 senses in Spanish? What are the names of the 5 different fingers in Spanish? Primero, los cinco sentidos.
(First, the five senses ).
1.
vista -- sight 2.
oÃdo -- hearing 3.
olfato -- smell 4.
tacto -- touch 5.
gusto -- taste Besides referring to one of "los cinco sentidos," and besides saying "el gusto es mÃo" (the pleasure is mine),I have heard Spanish speakers use "gusto" when talking about a perception or appreciation for what's fitting, beautiful, excellent, etc.
For example, as in English, we may say "he has good taste.
" I have heard Spanish speakers use the word "gusto" and say "Tiene buen gusto.
" And these are the names of the fingers: 1.
pulgar (dedo gordo) - thumb.
And the word "pulgada" means "inch.
" So I guess a thumb is called a "pulgar" because a thumb is the size on an inch more or less, or a "pulgar" is the size of a "pulgada.
" -- más o menos.
2.
Ãndice -- index finger.
To remember this one, just think of the Spanish verb "indicar" which means to indicate or to point out.
3.
medio -- middle finger 4.
anular -- ring finger 5.
meñique -- pinky And always remember that "dedo" can mean either "toe" or "finger.
" To make it clear which one you are referring to, just say "dedo de la mano" for "finger" and "dedo del pie" for "toe".
By the way, "mano" is a feminine word in Spanish despite the fact that it ends with the letter "o.
" So you MUST say "de la mano" or "dedo de la mano.
"
