Candida Yeast Overgrowth - What Causes It?

A reader asked me this question before.
In fact, I don't know the scientific answer to this.
But since time immemorial human beings must have shared utensils, I would have thought the important thing is to bring your body up to par, so that yeast/Candida overgrowth has no chance to take root.
This is all that I have gathered from my reading round the subject and is my opinion.
I'm not dispensing medical advice.
Birth control pills and other synthetic steroid chemicals, including the commonly prescribed progestogen and corticosteroids cause overgrowth of yeast.
So can other prescribed drugs.
And a variety of other problems result in the body from the overgrowth of yeast which can then be attributed to a variety of diseases, according to your individual body make up and particular vulnerable spot.
It's the overgrowth that's the problem, not the fact we have yeast in your body in any case.
The overgrowth spreads like a plant and the roots grow under the mucous membranes (hence Candida and related yeasts often appear as ulcerations in the mouth, for example, outcrops of fungus from the mucous membranes in the mouth or as hair loss in the area above the upper palate).
This is why "detoxing" in moderation does have its place and isn't just a fad.
It keeps the yeast under control.
Eating appropriately keeps the yeast under control.
However, I believe that if one hasn't been on long term drugs such as antibiotics and synthetic steroids, people can get away with eating rubbish because their bodies are strong enough to withstand the assault on their body.
I think also menstruation makes a woman's body more susceptible to yeast.
The problem is that we have all been indoctrinated that there is a pill for every ill.
It may help in the short term but in the long term it creates problems.
Drugs should only be used as a last resort when symptoms are acute and in very short bursts.
This is also why Nystatin, while effective in the short term, also has major drawbacks for many people.
The important thing is to stick to an anti Candida diet.
That's a basic if a person has suffered from any Candidiasis related symptoms.
I don't even now take Paracetamol for a headache.
If I feel one coming I just drink lots of water and use "Tiger balm" (a menthol balm) on the temples and, touch wood, it's worked so far.
It's the basics that need to be addressed but being kept running from one doctor to another for various seemingly unrelated symptoms and being given a pill here and a pill there is only going to make the situation worse.
