- 1). Vacuum the floors using the rubber bristle hose attachment of a canister or stand-up vacuum at least once a week. You can use any hose attachments, but the cat hairs tend to gather on the vinyl/plastic bristles and you will have to vacuum off the attachment several times as you clean the floor.
- 2). Use a rubber broom---which has short rubber bristles---to sweep the cat hair into a pile. Pull the rubber broom towards you (rather than push away from you) in quick, short strokes to create a static charge as you sweep and the hairs will cling to the bristles. You will have to clean the piles of hair with a dust pan or vacuum, but the rubber broom doesn't leave stray hairs.
- 3). Sweep up the cat hair with a disposable cloth sweeper. The cat hair clings to these cloths and you can discard them when you're done.
- 4). Combine the sweeping and vacuuming into one tool with a duster/vacuum. Dust up the cat hairs with the disposable cloth them vacuum up any piles of cat hair that you have gathered into piles. You can maintain the cat hair on your hardwood floors regularly with the lightweight floor duster/vacuum combo tool.
- 5). Dampen a paper towel and pat any stray cat hairs from the floor where you had swept up piles.
