How to Make a Gag Gift for a Chef
- 1). The key to a good gag gift is to fit it to the individual. You would not want to give the sweetest person you know a gag gift appropriate for a mean person. Think about the chef that you want to give this gag gift to and tailor your idea accordingly. Use the Internet to search for clip art that says something humorous about one of the aspects of your favorite chef. For instance, if he is notorious for setting a microwave on fire, try to find clip art of a microwave on fire.
- 2). Download the clip art to your computer's word processing or image software. If you would like, use the text feature on your software to add text to your clip art. If you are using a flaming microwave and you are giving the gift to a female, add something witty underneath it like "Queen of the Microwave."
- 3). Print off your completed clip art onto iron-on transfer paper. Note the direction of the paper and the way that your printer prints. Make sure you place the paper with the correct side up. You can test with a blank sheet of paper. Also, the clip art will be placed the exact opposite way from the way that it is printed on the apron. Use your software to "flip" or "reverse" the image.
- 4). Cut a small border around the edge of your clip art. You do not want to iron on all of the blank sheet onto the apron, just the clip art itself. Leave about a 1/4-inch border around the edges.
- 5). Iron your transfer onto your apron. This should only take a few minutes. Do not burn the apron by holding the iron on the transfer too long.
