If Jesus Was a Blogger

One of the criticisms leveled at bloggers, in the earlier days of weblogs, was that it seemed that bloggers blogged a lot about blogging.
I must admit that I've read many blogs about blogging but I think this is completely understandable.
Carpenters love their tools and artists love their brushes.
When people in the same discipline gather together, they tend to talk as much or more about their tools and techniques as they do about their latest project.
Blogging is relatively new and those embracing it are excited about learning from each other and getting better at it.
So to support my fellow bloggers and show my enthusiasm for this new and wonderful craft, this is my one blog about blogging.
Jesus Christ of Nazareth is considered by many to be one of the greatest communicators of all time.
When I first started writing books, I gathered tips from him.
When I started blogging, I decided to again look at the master and consider how his example could help me blog.
First, Jesus knew whom he was and what he had to say.
Although he spoke on many topics, they were always brought under the umbrella of God's will and plan for humankind.
When others started spreading the word about him, it was effective because they could easily articulate what he was about.
Jesus used provocative statements to get peoples attention.
"For my flesh is real food and my blood real drink.
" (John 6:55) "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
" (Mark 9:43) "Everything is possible for him who believes.
" (Mark 9:23) "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
" (John 14:6) Some of Jesus' attention grabbers are still stirring things up.
Although Jesus stayed on topic, he spiced things up with news events, political intrigue, popular theater, current legal, cultural and financial issues and religious controversy.
A quick scan of Jesus' teaching shows that he only required an average of 300 words (including background details) to get his point across.
(Something I'm still working on.
) Jesus did his research and credited his sources.
He quoted from the five books of Moses alone over 50 times and stated that every word he spoke was God's.
(John 14:24) He used his keywords well.
The word love, (loves, loving etc) appears 84 times in the gospels, God - 273 times, prayer - 61 times, kingdom - 114 times, heaven - 132 times and the word Lord 175 - times.
He may not have had Facebook or MySpace but Jesus still networked for exposure.
He chose 12 close friends, he had 70 friends in his larger group and there were 500 that saw him alive again before he ascended to heaven.
(John 15:15) He obviously did a good job.
His name is punched into search engines 35,000 times a day and a Google search of Jesus' name turns up 256,000,000 results.
His friends now number in the billions and people all over the world have been Stumbling upon and Digging his content for 2000 years.
One more word of advice to bloggers from Jesus example, it didn't happen overnight.
He stuck with it even when even his closest friends were leaving him.
I know we don't have 2000 years to spend but we also don't need billions of subscribers.
I'm one of Jesus' friends, one of the millions that are helping to keep the networking alive.
You'll find me blogging for Christian parents and using some of the same key words that Jesus used, father, mother, child/children, parents, family, son, daughter and home, which all totaled, are used in the Gospels over 750 times.
I'm happy to say that I can now be accused of blogging about blogging.
