There are several steps that you need to take in order to prepare your home for the coming winter if the house will not be occupied. One of those steps is to shut down the main valve of the water supply. Then you should open all faucets and other outlets inside the house.

· Be sparing with how you use some cleaners. Some of those have very harsh chemicals which can actually weaken the pipes in the long run.

· Make sure that the pipes are free from the roots of trees and other plants around the house. Roots can cause clogging.
Faucet Problems

You are bound to have some faucet problem at some point. Though most faucets are made for heavy duty use, those fixtures will still get worn out after some time. The fastest solution to solve problems with your faucet would be to replace the leaking or the faulty ones. Before you try to replace or fix a faucet, you should shut off the main valve first.
