How to Clean Silver Foil
- 1). Combine 1/2 cup of white vinegar with 4 tablespoons of baking soda. Mix together into a thin, pasty mixture.
- 2). Lay foil out on a flat, clean surface. Smooth out any folds or creases with a soft sponge--not your fingers; finger grease and oils can cause fingers to catch foil and tear it.
- 3). Dip the sponge into a little warm water and then into your mixture and begin wiping the foil gently with your mixture. Once the foil is coated with a layer of the mixture, let it sit for about 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Repeat these steps on the other side of the foil.
