Meditation For Quieting the Mind and Living in the Present
Meditation is a practice that is thousands of years old.
It has stayed in tact over the centuries, the people in ancient time understood the healing and calming powers of meditation.
Unfortunately in the United States the word has had Medication it hasn't been until the past 20 or 30 years that MediTation has become well-known.
We are all familiar with Medication, it comes from all directions, Doctors write prescriptions and there is plenty available over the counter but many people still wonder what Meditation is.
Meditation is not something to be mastered it is something that we practice.
It is an art form and requires tremendous effort and quite a bit of patience as well.
You can't expect to get results over night but when you stick with it the pay off is worth while.
Everyone from the US Military to corporate executives is embracing meditation for its stress-reducing and brain-boosting activity.
The great thing about meditation is that if you don't have time for it you are most likely the one that needs it the most.
I don't know if that is so great but it will sure help you identify your self.
If you don't have 35 minutes then you probably need 50.
The people who race through life are usually the ones who could use some meditation to help them focus.
You see your mind is a muscle and it can be trained.
Meditation is a tool that we can use to strengthen the mind in areas of focus and quietness.
Our minds can get overwhelmed by the thousands of thoughts that come zipping at it every day, meditation is such a help in quieting the noise down.
If we keep going and going our mind is just like a lake that is all stirred up with boats, it is cloudy.
When the boats park at the dock and the water calms the "churn-up" goes to the bottom and water becomes more clear, that is how it works with your mind.
There are so many forms of meditation; they all involve focusing on a single thought or stimulus like breathing or your heart or maybe a certain word or an image.
The key is to get comfortable and when thoughts try to penetrate just recognize them and brush them away and re-focus.
I am sure you can see why this might take patience and practice; it's like training a little puppy.
It can only sit for so long and then it darts off, you need to bring it back.
When your mind wanders you need to bring it back just like the puppy.
The practice of learning how to sit still and become mindful is one of the most basic forms of meditation.
When we meditate it plugs us into the deepest sense of who we are, it connects us with parts of our self that we may have forgotten about or became out of touch with.
You may have lost sight of the fact that every movement in life is as unique as you are.
When you are living in the present moment, every tree, blade of grass, a child's laughter, every thought, feeling and emotion becomes alive in a wonderfully vibrant way and becomes discoverable and infused with the ability to transform your life into something magical.
