    Avocado Delight

    • Children are often in a rush to prepare for school in the morning, so you need a breakfast smoothie that can fill them up and provide them with essential nutrients. Oats, yogurt and avocado can keep your child full throughout the morning until lunch. While you wouldn't think the mixture would yield good results, the ingredients mix together to create a complex yet pleasing taste. Grind a cup of oats down to powder and mix it with 2 cups of combined yogurt and avocado. Put the mixture into the blender with half a cup of soy milk to help it reach the proper consistency. For an added benefit, add flaxseed oil to the recipe.

    Cucumbers in Disguise

    • Getting children to eat their vegetables can sometimes seem like pulling teeth. You can sneak some cucumbers into your fruit smoothies virtually undetected, though, because of their pale color and light taste. Choose an assortment of berries ranging from blueberries to strawberries. To create a flavorful medley, add in some stronger fruit flavors such as papaya, cantaloupe and mango. Peel a cucumber (taking off the peel will lighten the taste and help disguise it in the blend) and drop them in the blender along with the fruit and some ice. The cucumber is hardly noticeable after blending it all together.

    Banana Cocoa

    • Chocolate has a bad rap with many parents, but it's actually very beneficial to children and adults alike. Cocoa can help improve your blood pressure and lead to cardiovascular health. The taste blends well with bananas, which add more nutrients to the mix. You can choose cocoa with no added sugar to gain the most benefit. Mix your cocoa powder with cut bananas and soy milk in a blender. The ingredients are blended together until they reach the consistency of chocolate milk. Sprinkle some cocoa powder over the top for appearance and taste.

    Fruit Salad Smoothie

    • Children can enjoy the fresh taste of fruit without adding ingredients, such as sugar or sweets. You can choose some of your child's favorite fruits that complement each other. Some choices include strawberries mixed with bananas or papaya mixed with cantaloupe. Mix the smoothies in the blender with some ice. If it is too thick, add some favorite sugar-free juice to the mix to achieve the proper consistency. Sugar-free ice cream can put the smoothie into a milkshake consistency if you prefer.
